The Freest State in the Nation

According to a February 2009 George Mason University study entitled Freedom in the 50 States: An Index of Personal and Economic Freedom, the freest state in the union is New Hampshire, followed by Colorado, South Dakota, Idaho and Texas.

The least free states in the nation were New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, California, and Maryland.
