Tax rates would have to triple to close deficit

Via Tax Prof, we learn of a Tax Foundation study of the tax increases that would be needed to close the deficit:





Of course, these are just personal income tax rates; they don't include Social Security taxes, or state and local taxes.

I am reminded of President Reagan's cheeky quote on the Democrats' taxing philosophy: "There are some in government who have a very simple tax proposal in mind. There will be only two lines on the tax form: How much did you make last year? Send it."
