A while back, my friend Peter posted videos of some hairy crosswind landings in commercial aircraft. See here and here, for a couple of such posts.
Here's a video collage of some Boeing test pilots demonstrating the max crosswind landing performance of Boeing aircraft. Impressive! The video also has the clip of Boeing test pilot Tex Johnson rolling a 707, and former fighter and test pilot Bob Hoover showing off his incredible flying skills.
The video above has a short clip of Boeing test pilot Tex Johnson barrel rolling a 707 prototype before a crowd of airline execs back in 1955. Here's a longer clip and interview with Mr. Johnson about his stunt. The video of the roll itself is pretty grainy, but hey, it's from 1955!
