The illusion might have been much more effective had they been able to get the chick to shut up for a few minutes while he was doing it.

Fat chance of that.

I got the impression this was a new report.

The fatal flaw of every reporter I've ever seen is that they all have the misconception that we're more interested in hearing what they have to say about the story than the actual story itself.

I especially love the ones where they show a report based on a taped interview, the reporter's question is played back in full, but as the interviewee is answering the reporter talks over them to tell us what they're saying.

Um...why don't you just shut us and let us hear him for ourselves?

Anyway...sorry about the rant. Pet peeve.

It is still an interesting phenomenon.

Sorry...typo. That should have been "news report".

Curt,

I think most reporters, especially television reporters, are closet narcissists. They like seeing and hearing themselves; the interview subject is merely a means to accomplish that end. :)

At any rate, Merry Christmas!
